Construction
Steel, stainless steel, or PP can be discussed after the source, temperature, vapour, cleaning, and corrosion conditions are known.
Mounting
Wall, ceiling, bench, or articulated mounting requires verified support, clearances, and maintenance access.
Capture limitation
A canopy or local arm is not a substitute for an enclosed fume hood where containment or a physical barrier is required.
Ventilation scope
Capture criteria, airflow, duct size, fan, controls, discharge, make-up air, noise, and commissioning belong to the project ventilation design.
Ordering rule
The reference dimensions do not establish capture performance. Release follows approved ventilation inputs and installation details.

01Is an exhaust hood the same as a laboratory fume hood?

Not necessarily. A source-capture hood and an enclosed fume hood have different geometry and containment behavior. The responsible project team should select the approach from the actual process and risk review.

No. Source behavior, capture distance, enclosure, cross-drafts, duct losses, room air balance, and applicable criteria all affect the engineering decision.

03What is needed for a canopy-hood inquiry?

Provide the equipment or source dimensions, emission description, mounting height, ceiling structure, proposed duct route, room plan, operating schedule, and the engineer responsible for airflow and discharge.
